1. What this policy covers
This policy explains cookies and related browser storage connected with the Brentorin Chapter website. A cookie is a small piece of information stored by a browser for a domain. Local storage is a separate browser facility that keeps a value on the device until it is removed or replaced. A consent preference is different from the personal details you enter in a brief.
The actual Shopify storefront can use platform cookies, hosting records, and installed applications in addition to this design. The purpose choices below connect to supported Shopify privacy controls. They should not be read as an inventory or a technical certification of every unrelated application that a store operator might add.
2. Essential operation
Essential storage can support site operation, security, request handling, and remembering a privacy choice. It is not offered as an optional marketing purpose in the controls. Shopify may use its own essential cookies for its hosted services and security. Names and lifetimes of platform cookies can change, so this policy does not freeze an unverified list of Shopify cookie names.
This design does not add a shopping cart, an account login, a payment checkout, or server-side form submission. A separate Shopify feature or application may have its own operational requirements. You can usually block or delete cookies in your browser, but doing so may affect relevant store functions or cause a privacy question to appear again.
3. The privacy-choice record
The design uses the local storage key bc_privacy_v1 after you make a choice. The record contains a version number, the time the choice was saved, and whether preference, analytics, and marketing purposes were selected. The design treats that local record as current for up to 180 days. It can be removed sooner using browser controls.
The record does not contain your name, email, company, storefront URL, consultation topic, business question, or the text of a consultation summary. It is used to remember the privacy interaction on this browser. A supported Shopify privacy service may separately record the consent action under its own mechanisms. The design does not read or rewrite Shopify’s cookies directly.
4. Preference purposes
Preference cookies can remember optional choices such as language, region, or a personalized presentation beyond what is strictly needed for essential operation. This design provides a purpose control for Shopify-managed services but does not itself add a separate preference-tracking service.
Turning this purpose off does not mean every existing setting in an independently installed application has been deleted. Where such a service is present, its actual use and privacy behavior should be reviewed. A future personalization feature should be assessed before it is introduced and reflected in the website information where needed.
5. Analytics purposes
Analytics cookies may be used by a configured platform or measurement service to understand site visits and interactions. Depending on the service, the information may include page requests, device details, referral information, and interaction events. This design does not include Google Analytics, an independent analytics library, or its own visitor event collection endpoint.
The Analytics control records the visitor’s choice for supported Shopify-managed surfaces. It is not permission to collect unrelated information or an instruction to install an analytics service. If a measurement service is added, it should respect applicable consent and opt-out requirements, and the privacy and cookie information should describe the actual arrangement.
6. Marketing purposes
Marketing cookies can support advertising, campaign measurement, or recognition across visits and services. This design contains no advertising pixel, ad retargeting library, social tracking widget, or embedded marketing video. The Marketing control exists to express a choice to supported store services where such services are configured.
Choosing Allow all does not by itself subscribe you to email marketing, authorize a payment, or grant permission to publish a client project. Choosing Essential only turns the optional purpose signals off in the action sent to a supported Shopify privacy service. Independently added scripts must be configured to respect the relevant controls; a banner alone cannot guarantee their compliance.
7. Making and changing a choice
The initial banner offers Essential only, Manage, and Allow all. In the settings dialog you can select optional purposes individually, save those choices, or return to essential-only. Optional boxes are not selected merely because the dialog is opened. You can reopen the dialog through Privacy preferences in the footer.
Consent recording happens after a visitor interaction, using Shopify’s Customer Privacy API where available. The design does not automatically write consent on the visitor’s behalf just because the page loaded. If the store-wide privacy service cannot be updated, a message explains the problem rather than claiming the update succeeded. The design’s own optional tracking remains absent.
8. Global Privacy Control and sale or sharing opt-outs
Where the browser exposes Global Privacy Control, this design detects that signal and keeps its Marketing choice off. Supported Shopify handling of the signal also depends on the store’s regional privacy configuration. The signal is not a reason to collect additional identity information simply to provide a website preference.
The settings dialog also offers an explicit data sale or sharing opt-out action for the supported Shopify service. This action is distinct from merely accepting or rejecting cookie purposes. If the service is unavailable, the dialog directs you to the contact email for a request. The design does not itself sell personal information, but that fact is not a blanket statement about every possible application added to the store in the future.
9. External assets and the project form
Storefront images and fonts are loaded from delivery infrastructure. Ordinary requests for those resources may disclose connection details to the respective provider even where the resource is not an advertising tracker. The current design uses a storefront-hosted hero image and Google font delivery. Removing optional cookies does not prevent every necessary or chosen network request made to display a page.
The public brief is kept in page memory, not in cookies or local storage. Its Copy consultation summary button can write the prepared text to your device clipboard after you choose that action. A later message that you send through your own email service is a separate activity and is governed by that service and the direct correspondence relationship.
10. Browser controls, updates, and inquiries
Browser settings can clear cookies and local storage or restrict their use. Clearing the local preference record may cause the banner to appear again. Choices are associated with a browser and relevant service context; they are not a guarantee that every device you use will have identical settings. Do not assume that changing a choice erases information already lawfully retained for a separate purpose.
If the storage or services used by the website materially change, this policy and the operational configuration should be reviewed together. The date at the top identifies this version. Contact us for questions about the design’s choices or information received through direct correspondence. Applicable privacy and consumer rights remain available.
