1. Scope and responsibility
Brentorin Chapter provides retail research, evaluation, strategy, and advisory services for U.S. retail businesses. This policy explains the personal information connected with our website and direct business relationships. It covers people who visit the website, contact us, discuss an engagement, or participate in an agreed project. It does not describe how an unrelated retailer handles its own shoppers, or how an independently chosen payment or email provider operates.
The contact address in the final section is the point of contact for privacy questions. The policies on this website apply to the branded services described here. They do not claim government approval, a privacy certification, or an assessment of every law that might apply to every visitor. Where a nonwaivable legal right applies, that right continues to apply.
2. The website brief stays on the page
The consultation form is designed to prepare a consultation summary in the visitor’s browser. It checks the fields, displays a summary, and offers a copy function. Preparing the brief does not transmit its contents to Brentorin Chapter, create an email, book an appointment, or create a client record on our behalf. There is no form submission endpoint in this design.
The form asks for a name, email address, company, consultation focus, and business question. A storefront URL is optional. It does not request a payment preference or payment credentials. These entries remain in the current page’s memory. They are not written by this design to cookies or persistent browser storage. The page clears them on a reload or navigation; closing and reopening the dialog during the same visit may retain the entries. If you choose Copy consultation summary, the text is placed on your device’s clipboard where supported. You control any later email or other message containing that text.
3. Information we receive directly
If you send a brief or other message to us yourself, we receive the information included in that correspondence and information needed to respond. This may include your contact details, professional role, company, store URL, business priorities, availability, and relevant records of the discussion. For an engagement, we may receive billing-contact details, a written scope, contractual records, project materials, and payment status information.
Provide only information reasonably needed for the business question. Do not put passwords, complete card numbers, security codes, bank access credentials, government identification numbers, health information, or individual customer records in the public brief. Where a project needs controlled access or additional data, the parties should agree an appropriate access method and confidentiality arrangement before it is provided.
4. Website and platform information
A visit to a hosted Shopify storefront can involve technical information such as an IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, security signals, and essential cookies. Shopify and infrastructure providers may process this information to deliver and secure their services. The design itself adds no advertising pixel, analytics library, visitor-profiling tool, or marketing automation service.
This design uses one hero image uploaded to the storefront and fonts from Google’s font delivery infrastructure. A request for those resources can disclose ordinary connection information, including an IP address and browser request details, to the relevant provider. The image and font resources do not receive the contents of the brief form from this design. If store applications, analytics, advertising tools, or other providers are added later, the actual configuration and this notice must be reviewed together.
5. Purposes of processing
Information received through direct correspondence is used to answer an inquiry, discuss suitability and scope, arrange a conversation, prepare a quote, administer an agreed engagement, deliver the work, maintain business records, and address service or billing questions. Relevant technical information may be processed for site operation, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and security.
A project inquiry is not an instruction to subscribe you to unrelated marketing. Where we seek permission for an optional use, that choice should be specific to that use. We do not use the local brief-preparation event as consent to marketing, an authorization to charge, or an instruction to train an AI model on your information.
6. Project information and AI advisory
Retail projects should use public, aggregate, anonymized, or appropriately minimized information where it can answer the question. You remain responsible for having authority to share business materials and any third-party information. We should agree any proposed handling of personal customer information before that information is transferred.
An AI-related service in the catalog is an advisory engagement. It does not mean this website operates an AI shopping assistant or that client information is automatically sent to an AI platform. Any proposed use of an outside AI service with confidential or personal project information must be assessed and agreed for the particular engagement. An advisory report is not a certification of a vendor’s privacy or security practices.
7. Recipients and disclosures
Information may be available to service providers supporting the relevant activity, such as website hosting, business email, document storage, professional advice, or an agreed payment process. Access should be limited to the information reasonably needed for that purpose. The identity of a payment processor and its payment terms are provided with the actual payment request; the consultation form does not collect payment information or authorize a transaction.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, a valid legal request, a documented security investigation, or the protection of lawful rights. If a business transfer materially changes the organization responsible for information, applicable notice and contractual requirements should be followed. These provisions do not authorize unrestricted publication of a client’s confidential materials.
8. Storage and retention
This design stores only a privacy-choice record, bc_privacy_v1, in local browser storage for up to 180 days. That record contains purpose choices, a version, and a timestamp, rather than brief fields. Browser controls may remove it earlier. The store platform may use its own cookies and records under its configuration.
For information you send directly, retention should reflect the purpose of the correspondence, the active engagement, contractual needs, and applicable legal or accounting requirements. Routine inquiry material should not be retained indefinitely after the discussion ends. Project materials may need to be retained for delivery, correction, or a documented dispute; business transaction records may require a longer legal retention period. A deletion request is assessed against those needs, and material subject to a legal preservation duty cannot be deleted solely because a request is received.
9. Choices, access, and requests
You can choose not to provide optional information, avoid preparing a brief, clear the page, manage browser storage, or use Privacy preferences in the footer. You may contact us to ask about information we hold from direct correspondence, request a correction, request deletion where appropriate, or raise a concern about its use. Rights and exceptions depend on the applicable law and the circumstances.
We may request limited information to verify the request and protect information from disclosure to an unauthorized person. Do not send a government identification document or account password in an initial request. If someone acts for you, we may need evidence of their authority. We will explain a material limitation on a request where legally permitted and will not treat the exercise of an applicable privacy right as consent to a new use.
10. Cookies, opt-outs, and security
The consent controls offer essential-only, customized, and all-purpose choices. On a supported Shopify storefront, they use Shopify’s Customer Privacy API to record the visitor’s action. That mechanism does not replace correct privacy configuration for separately installed applications. Supported Global Privacy Control signals and data sale or sharing opt-outs are handled as explained in the Cookie Policy. The design does not add a mechanism to sell personal information or place advertising trackers.
Reasonable safeguards and careful data minimization are important, but no website, email system, or storage method can be promised to be entirely secure. If a security incident triggers a notification duty, the responsible parties must address it under applicable law, including Missouri requirements where they apply. This policy does not promise a particular security certification, audit result, or specific incident response outcome.
11. Children, location, and changes
The website is intended for adult business users and is not directed to children under 13. We do not ask children to provide information through the brief. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our contact address, notify us so the matter can be assessed and the information handled appropriately.
The services are presented for U.S. retail businesses, and relevant providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate. A different jurisdiction may provide additional applicable rights; this policy does not remove them. Material changes to the information practices described here should be reflected in an updated policy and any notice required by law. The date at the top identifies this version.
